A disciplined, yet human identity for Hermeneutic Research
Hermeneutic Research is an event-driven trading firm and hedge fund working in crypto markets at the edge of price discovery. Its name comes from hermeneutics, the study and methodology of interpretation.
Hermeneutic came to me because it wanted to hire the best engineers, researchers and traders. Its website and wider digital presence didn’t convey the ambition and maturity the firm had reached, and its previous logo mark carried too much detail to hold up at small sizes. The goal was to align the identity with the company’s current stage so prospective hires would see the firm as it really is.
Its edge is not raw speed or pure quant machinery. It is the ability to read between the lines, act in ambiguity and make sense of shifting conditions. The identity had to feel like a human mind interpreting complexity, not a faceless quant machine, and avoid the loud look of many crypto brands or the bland look of hedge funds.
We began with a moodboard and a concept I called The Observing Mind, built on contextual intelligence, disciplined intuition and human-centred excellence. From it came Perception-to-Pattern: soft, blurred shapes stand for sensing weak market signals before they are fully legible, while ASCII number structures mark the moment interpretation snaps into focus.
The mark was redrawn as two open hands in a moulding gesture. Meaning is actively formed, never passively received; as the firm reads the market, the market reshapes its thinking.
The system extends across presentation, annual report covers, business cards, values poster and a premium merchandise programme now in production. I delivered a Figma brand kit, PDF guidelines, Canva templates, a Google Slides presentation template and an asset library of logos, fonts, patterns and blurs. Jan Blunar designed and built the website in Framer.
hermeneutic.com is now live, giving the firm an identity that matches its stage and a kit its team can use across decks, print and merchandise.
